Big Cat Rescue

May 24, 2009 by Kelly

Ever dream of being within feet of a Bobcat, Cougar, or Tiger? At Big Cat Rescue all that separates you from these cats is a fence. At Big Cat Rescue, 100% of the donations go toward the feeding and upkeep on the sanctuary. All of the cats that are there have been taken in from circuses, people keeping these animals as pets, people breeding these cats for fur, etc.

The day tour is a hour and a half walk around the sanctuary. It is a guided tour where your guide will point out what the cat is, why it has their certain markings, and lots of facts about the cat.

Some of the cats you may get to see on this tour of the sanctuary are Ocelots, Cougars, Bobcats, Servals, Lynx, Tigers and Lions.

For children, there is a special tour on Saturdays at 10AM. It is a hour tour and is specifically for all kids ten and under.

Our guide was telling us that on the night tours you actually take flashlights out and walk around in the sanctuary to see the cats.

For a chance to get to see all of the cats, your best best would be the feeding tour. You get to watch the sanctuary keepers feed the cats, which means…the big cats will be out!

I would LOVE to go back and take a hour to do one of the photo tours. The entire place was amazing and all of the volunteers were very helpful!

Big Cat Rescue is located in Tampa, Florida. To find out more information or to donate, please visit bigcatrescue.org.
