Saturday, July 25, 2009 was named T.U.O.T.Y. by Ross. (‘Tweet Up Of The Year’) Though it really wasn’t a tweet up per se, more of a group of friends, that just happened to be some people we’ve met off of twitter, that came by to celebrate Jeff’s birthday.

Jeff is now 25 and he got to bring in this new age with some really great friends.

Everyone started rolling in around 1. We ate some food, drank some beer, and played some Rock Band. Oh and Jenn, Daphne and I were killed in Flip Cup on the first round. Second round, not so much. We beat them so bad! First flip for each of us.

After lunch, everyone sang Happy Birthday and then we all dug into the wonderful red velvet cake that Pam made and also the cheeseburger cupcakes that Daphne brought with her! Both were a very special treat!

We all watched the kids play some video games while Jeff and Ross tried to beat them at Mario Kart and watched a movie, then Jeff started getting antsy for dinner. He, of course, wanted steak! Natalie went to the store and bought ALL of us steaks! Massive steaks!

Then it was time for MORE dessert. Thanks to Tommy and Ashley for supplying Jeremiah’s Italian Ice!! It was a great ending to a great day. Until Ross broke a chair…..
Thanks to EVERYONE that came out: Ross, Natalie and kids (Timmy, Ray & William), Geoff, Jen, Rowan, Pam, Christine, Tommy, Justin, Jenn, Daphne, Etan, Kyle, Autumn, Dan and kids, T, Amanda & Heather.
And a very special thank you to my mom for helping me out all week long and my dad for helping out the weekend before in the yard and also when he came on Friday!
Jeff had a WONDERFUL birthday and hope to do it again next year!
There are a LOT more pictures, so be sure to check them out – never know if I got a picture of you!
Continue Reading...Jeff’s birthday is on Saturday. And we are having people over to the house, FINALLY! So this will be doubling as our house warming party.
Here’s what I have left to do before people show up on Saturday at 1:
17 loads of laundry - DONE
Clean the house from TOP to bottom – DONE
Get more pictures hung up – a little more to go
Clean off the memory cards for all the cameras because I will be taking a CRAP ton of pictures – clean cards a go!
Give the cat a tranquilizer so she doesn’t freak out when people show (ok I won’t be doing that.)
Figure out how many people are coming (so RSVP people!!) – have a general idea
Find recipes that are easy enough to make – making way on the food
Grocery shop (after people RSVP, see how this works out..) – doing that in about a hour..
Wrap Jeff’s gifts – soon!
Get other shopping done – DONE
All of this while running day-to-day life, ie. working and trying to find more work.
Oh and I MUST get my car aligned this week as well. Sigh. – Taking car today!!!!
Continue Reading...The weekend before my birthday, Jeff and I met my parents in Palm Coast. My mom never gave us the address to where we were staying, just kept saying “either a Microtel or someplace like that”. We drove there, called for directions and we pulled into this place that had restaurants and shops. After walking in and being told to “Hurry up!” by my parents, because “a maid let us look at a room for a few minutes, so we need to be quick.” I started to think to myself, “What in the world is going on and WHERE is the toilet?!”
Walked into the room and saw lots of streamers and a balloon! We were fooled! My parents had rented this nice condo for the weekend, with these wonderful beds, a flat screen tv and a kitchen!

After it sank in, I started realizing that I was sweating like crazy. Why? Because the air conditioner wasn’t working!
Two hours, a few phone calls to the owner and a walk around the area, the a/c guy finally came out to tell us that there was nothing he could do until MONDAY! (Remember..this was Friday!) Mom confirmed with the owners that we were going to get everything cleaned up and looking exactly how it was and that we would be staying else where. So we then got a room and went to dinner at a wonderful place in Palm Coast called Bourbon Street Bar and Grille.
Saturday rolls around and we head to St. Augustine for the day. On the way there we passed through the intersection where our accident took place five and a half years ago. I had a little mental breakdown and then I was fine. I hadn’t seen where it happened since that night, so it was a little shocking and lots of memories came flooding back.
Mom, Dad, Jeff and I had a WONDERFUL lunch at the Spanish Bakery right off of St. George Street. It was THE reason I wanted to go into St. Augustine! That made my entire weekend and I’m already wanting to go back and enjoy more lovely food from there.
Saturday night, Mom and I did some shopping and then we all went out to dinner.. Dad however realized that he had left his credit card somewhere. THANKFULLY it was traced back to the restaurant we ate at on Friday and they still had it.
Sunday we went out for breakfast, after we found Dad’s keys (which he left sitting in the hotel room when we checked out!), plus we then spent 20 minutes looking for the Denny’s that was RIGHT across the street from the hotel! After breakfast/lunch, we went to the beach to get some pictures!
No less than craziness happens when my family goes some place. And the weekend before my birthday was no let down! That weekend made me realize all over again how much I love my parents and how thankful I am to have them and spend time with them. (The craziness is just an added bonus!)
Thanks Mom and Dad!! (aka Whodi and Father Unit!!)
Continue Reading...Jeff’s family came down from Kentucky to Florida for a vacation. We did the theme park thing, shopping thing and other Disney stuff. And they went to the beach for the day while Jeff and I worked.
Monday night involved birthday gifts for Jeff and myself from his family and also lots of pictures of Jeff’s son. The biggest thing was the letter that Jeff’s parents have had since he was under a year old. The letter was from his biological parents. I can guarantee that you will never in your lifetime read a letter as heartfelt and wonderful as the one Jeff’s biological parents wrote him when he was 5 weeks old.
Tuesday was spent at Animal Kingdom. It was so freaking hot that we came back to the house for a few hours, had dinner and then headed out to Epcot to see the countries and fireworks. I guess that just wasn’t meant to be because it got quite dark and stormy as SOON as we walked in. We quickly got something to drink at the pub and then ran over to the “shoppes” in England and sat most of the storm out in there. Once park closing came around, it was still storming so we headed back to the car. Thank GOODNESS we got a close parking spot (as close as you can get at least)!
Our next big day out was full of popcorn from Kernel Encore and Jeremiah’s. Along with Jeff’s sister getting her 2nd piercings for her 16th birthday and then lots of walking around Downtown Disney!
All in all, I’m pretty sure everyone had a good time.

Jeff is doing an open for a SXSW contest. So last night, we went to the backlot of the Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formally known as Disney-MGM Studios), not to go to work this time *since i.d.e.a.s. was closed*, but to shoot some footage in the employee parking garage. Last night, it was about 40 degrees, which to Florida people is freaking COLD. So here we are driving around with the windows down and the sunroof open to make sure that Jeff gets the right shot.
We use a Canon HV20 HD MiniDV Camcorder, which is an amazing little camera, along with one of my newest purchases, a Joby GP3 GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Tripod. Joby makes all kinds of different sizes of flexible tripods and I would recommend any of them to someone that is even remotely into taking pictures.
As Jeff was busy working on getting some stuff shot, I was taking full advantage of the parking garage being empty (which it NEVER is when we go to work). I was running around taking pictures of the “water tower” that guests would see while they are on the Backlot Tour of DHS.

Jeff has to be done with the SXSW graphics in about a week..
so check back then, when I post the completed project!
More pictures from our little shoot on flickr.
