Cure For The Run

SomaCow Media and Rock For Hunger teamed up to put on an amazing event. A 0.05k. 164 feet. No, I am not making this up. I honestly had to walk further to get to my car. Seriously!

Over $3,000 dollars was raised to help the homeless in Orlando, FL. Next year, let’s double it!

Here are some pictures from the glorious day. These are other pictures can be found on my flickr page.

What Just Happened?

I walked into David’s Bridal on Saturday and I wanted to run the other direction. Everyone is trying on dresses that just don’t look right on them, while their family stands there and lie to them about dresses looking beautiful on them. On pedestals, none the less. Too much for me.

It was my first time being in any kind of bridal shop and I don’t know how much times I’ll be able to go back. This visit was NOT for myself, but for a friend of mine that is getting married soon. She is on the hunt for bridesmaid dresses and since I was with them I figured I’d go and take some pictures..and so it begins!

Size Matters

Nova535

The Vitale Brothers, along with lots of other artists, got a chance to present some of their work at Nova535 in St. Petersburg, FL. As the show name says “size matters”. These pieces of art were quite grand. One of them look up a LARGE portion of the wall. Although, no matter how big some of the work was, the star of the show was a piece done by the Vitale Brothers.

An excellent painting of the great Billy Mays, Jr.

And after talking to Arwen Saxon and Billy Mays III, we learned that Billy was going to be taking it home when the show ends. Which I think is the only place it belongs!

Here is some of the other art work that is up. These are just some of the pictures.
Others can be found on my flickr page.

How We Celebrate!

The weekend before my birthday, Jeff and I met my parents in Palm Coast. My mom never gave us the address to where we were staying, just kept saying “either a Microtel or someplace like that”. We drove there, called for directions and we pulled into this place that had restaurants and shops. After walking in and being told to “Hurry up!” by my parents, because “a maid let us look at a room for a few minutes, so we need to be quick.” I started to think to myself, “What in the world is going on and WHERE is the toilet?!”

Walked into the room and saw lots of streamers and a balloon! We were fooled! My parents had rented this nice condo for the weekend, with these wonderful beds, a flat screen tv and a kitchen!

After it sank in, I started realizing that I was sweating like crazy. Why? Because the air conditioner wasn’t working!

Temp

Two hours, a few phone calls to the owner and a walk around the area, the a/c guy finally came out to tell us that there was nothing he could do until MONDAY! (Remember..this was Friday!) Mom confirmed with the owners that we were going to get everything cleaned up and looking exactly how it was and that we would be staying else where. So we then got a room and went to dinner at a wonderful place in Palm Coast called Bourbon Street Bar and Grille.

Saturday rolls around and we head to St. Augustine for the day. On the way there we passed through the intersection where our accident took place five and a half years ago. I had a little mental breakdown and then I was fine. I hadn’t seen where it happened since that night, so it was a little shocking and lots of memories came flooding back.

Mom, Dad, Jeff and I had a WONDERFUL lunch at the Spanish Bakery right off of St. George Street. It was THE reason I wanted to go into St. Augustine! That made my entire weekend and I’m already wanting to go back and enjoy more lovely food from there.

Saturday night, Mom and I did some shopping and then we all went out to dinner.. Dad however realized that he had left his credit card somewhere. THANKFULLY it was traced back to the restaurant we ate at on Friday and they still had it.

Sunday we went out for breakfast, after we found Dad’s keys (which he left sitting in the hotel room when we checked out!), plus we then spent 20 minutes looking for the Denny’s that was RIGHT across the street from the hotel! After breakfast/lunch, we went to the beach to get some pictures!

No less than craziness happens when my family goes some place. And the weekend before my birthday was no let down! That weekend made me realize all over again how much I love my parents and how thankful I am to have them and spend time with them. (The craziness is just an added bonus!)

Thanks Mom and Dad!! (aka Whodi and Father Unit!!)

Soar Into Savings This Summer With SeaWorld

There isn’t any other theme park in the state of Florida that has a roller coaster as exciting as the theme park itself.

SeaWorld

SeaWorld is in the theme park capital of the world, Orlando, Florida. This summer they opened their newest roller coaster, Manta! You become a manta and literally fly laying face down over SeaWorld. I got the chance to ride Manta and let me tell you — you MUST go to SeaWorld and ride this ride, NOW! Plus, they have many other rides, including Kraken, another exciting coaster. And LOTS of animals. Not to mention.. SHAMU! Oh and my personal favorite, Clyde and Seymour.

Manta

SeaWorld is such a short drive from anywhere in Florida (and also Georgia and Alabama), you can drive to Orlando for the weekend, enjoy a lovely day at SeaWorld doing Manta over and over again and then the very next day go right across the street to Aquatica or to Tampa to visit Busch Gardens — for free! Yep, SeaWorld has such a great deal right now – you buy one day at SeaWorld and you get another day at Aquatica or Busch Gardens, on them! I’ve NEVER seen another theme park have this great of an offer. And I bet, no other park ever will.

Torture

Since Jeff and I will be watching the game from outside the Amway Arena tonight… I am now torturing myself with pictures from when we went to game 4 LAST time. Tear.

I’ll be yelling at f’n Kobe and everyone else from, well, somewhere not in the O-rena! (Unless someone falls deadly ill and can’t go to the game *cough*Justin*cough*)

#beatla

Jeff made Tommy, Ashley and myself #beatla shirts, to which we sported around Tampa for Sunday’s Magic game.

It was funny to see people trying to figure them out.. I think the whole ‘#’ thing through them off!

They are wonderful shirts and I wish I had a different one for every day of the week!!

Do you have a homemade shirt that you LOVE?! Post a link to it in the comments!

Florida Aquarium Holds a Tweetup

Aquarium

Thanks to Julia Gorzka and Josh Carrico, Tampa had one of their biggest tweetups yet.Podium

People started arriving at the Florida Aquarium around 3 PM. Everyone got their name tags, though some were brand new to twitter and weren’t sure of what their twitter handle was (you know…the thing that comes after the ‘@’ sign).

AnimalsAfter a hour of meeting people and watching a couple of videos about the Florida Aquarium, an alligator and snake were brought in the room for everyone to look at and touch.

If you didn’t want to see these animals you were free to go wander around the aquarium until certain twitter-ers swam with fishes and one lucky twitter-er got to dive with sharks.

There were a lot of people that showed up to the tweetup and there was even more stuff to look at around the aquarium. From ground animals to under the sea, the Florida Aquarium covers it all.

Jeff and I didn’t even make it upstairs to see everything. But from what we saw, we had an amazing time with my parents and Ross, Natalie and the Mini Ross’.

Ross vs. The Statue of Liberty

Jeff and I were heading to dinner after we sat in the rain at the Amway Arena for Sunday nights Magic game pre-events. And what do you know, we see @ELROSS running across the street! Imagine our surprise. So we pulled over and got some pictures.
